This deck began as a project to improve a dangerously inadequate set of concrete steps to the back door.  By the time it was done, there was a deck with a nice sunny sitting area and easy access to the back yard.  The tops for the posts were based on a motif the homeowner had seen and liked.  The latticework panels were designed to be easily removed to allow access under the deck.
